"Why'd you use our closer in the 7th!" Baseball people love their "roles".Harperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07738813756060133236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2074246508221440257.post-8400123038370905102011-04-11T05:58:19.191-04:002011-04-11T05:58:19.191-04:00Really enjoyed this post. Positive reinforcement from such a tough grader always let's me know somebody did something right.

I've always liked Riggleman's bullpen management. I think it's a significant part of the reason we overachieved out of the pen last year. Not a fan of Riggleman's tactics sometimes. Pudge's sac bunt last night made me feel queasy.

But the bullpen management is usually solid and the people skills feel right to me too. I don't know if Interim Jim is the long term solution, but I'm glad he got that game right.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2074246508221440257.post-60626130603634517092011-04-09T17:16:35.819-04:002011-04-09T17:16:35.819-04:00Good for you Steven. I'm racing over here to offer my support for your mostly supportive post.

I agree that the situation should dictate the pitcher or pitchers, and hope it continues. From what I read, it sounds like our bullpen is sufficiently team-oriented that they would want situational (as opposed to pre-determined) assignments as well. After all, odds are that approach would help them be more successful both as a team and as individuals.Jenn Jensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17459409814615775648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2074246508221440257.post-85030022528558269772011-04-09T16:01:02.735-04:002011-04-09T16:01:02.735-04:00I surfed in from a link on Nats Insider, fully exp...I surfed in from a link on Nats Insider, fully expecting that the headline was sarcastic, and expecting a snarky post. I absolutely agree that Riggleman flipped all the right switches yesterday. I also agree that it is unfortunate the Riggs seems intent to abandon optimal situational match-ups, and instead adopt robotic inning assignments to his relief corps.Sniviushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01362759420902407469noreply@blogger.com
