Maybe Jim Overslept?

Chico Harlan reports that Jim Bowden wasn't at the game today to see, among other things, Ross Detwiler walk four of five batters faced and fail to record an out.

Overslept my ass.
He's been knee-deep in a bottle of Bowman's ever since the Smiley thing. It's all your fault too, Steven. Your blog is single-handedly ruining that poor man's life.

Seriously though I'm not worried about Detwiler. Lack of offense is just as disconcerting as a young pitcher getting lit up

Ross D did not get lit up.....it was just more of the same from last year.....can not throw strikes at any level.....I agree the lack of hitting is the big issue so far. I am also concerned that injuries are still poping up to the same old guys. Kearns, Pena, Young.....man it will be great to get ride of them next year and Jimbo.

Chico is staking out JimBow's office in Vierra to see if he still has a job.

WaPo just pulled Chico's post saying he was at SCS and JimBow wasn't there...maybe nothing, but maybe something is up...

Yeah--this is new for the WaPo--my RSS feed says the post started as follows:

Normally, Jim Bowden travels around Florida this time of year, watching his team. The Washington Nationals expected as much on Saturday, figuring they'd see Bowden slide into a choice seat at Roger Dean Stadium, in Jupiter, Fla., for the afternoon exhibition game against the Cardinals. But Bowden never showed. In sane times, this would raise no questions whatsoever; the GM is perfectly entitled to skip a two-hour road trip. These days, though, the no-show raises antennas. After the game, in a new low for journalistic self-dignity, I drove to Space Coast Stadium. (In fact, I'm here right now.) Bowden's office is on the fourth floor, overlooking the first base side of the field. The door is open. But he's not there. And his car is not in the parking lot. What does that mean? Well, probably that his day is already over -- and not because Kasten ordered it to

Isn't Bowden a notorious hard worker, always on, working late, etc, etc, etc, doesn't sound likely he's at home watching the MLB network...

"Called in" like Lefty at the end of Donnie Brasco?

Very weird concerning the NJ column.... I had it up and after refreshing, it was gone. If only Jimbo would go so quietly into the night!

I am more worried about Detwiler's work today than the lack of offense. We had almost none of the presumed opening day lineup make the trip today, so their lack of production isn't too surprising. The strike zone though, is theoretically the same at every level, and walking 3 guys without recording an out is NOT good.

I'm worried about Detwiler because he was a top 10 pick, almost 2 years ago.
