What do you think? Jay-Z seems to be gaining traction. I'm not so sure. I've been peddling "Flash Jordan." I would consider "The Mighty Zimm," but I've already assigned that to the other Zim.
There's no question we need better nicknames on this team. We have "Belly," "Guzzy," "Bergy," and "Kearnsy," like the seven dwarfs or something. "Nick the Stick" is pretty good. And there's no question that Shairon Martis will always be the "Wowin' Curocaoan."
But I think we need to stop and think before we just go along with the whole "Jay-Z" thing.

I like Double-N.
Zed.
J-Mann?
Yeah, we'll have to go with Jay-Z
Maybe a helpful jumping off point:
The surname Zimmerman comes from the High Middle German zimer, meaning "wood" or "timber" and mann, meaning "man." The meaning, therefore, is "timber man" which refers to a carpenter.
My friends and I just call him Zimmerman-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n.
Isn't that a little too close to Harahanananananannn?
Jay-Z? Come on. You like the kid. Don't name him after a second-rate rapper.
The lumber part could be helpful, especially since he is devestating opponents' lumber and his is from up north. Even still, it would be hard to make something like "Chainsaw" stick.
I am so tired of nicknames like Zimmy, Belly, etc.
I meant "He is from up north."
See I'm a Jay-Z fan, and even I don't like it because I think it makes us (and him) sound sooooo white and uncool. I mean, all these dudes from NoVA who couldn't tell Reasonable Doubt from Illmatic will be screaming yeah! Jay-Z! wooot! It'll be idiotic.
I'd go with Dutch.
How about Jesus "Hardwood" Flores?
Also, Jay-Z seems ok to me.
I expect you know where I stand on this. HOVA. But I'm willing to give Basil's suggestion a mulligan since it didn't stick to our first Zimmerman. Stupid wikipedia.
Of more interest to me, is there a Zimmermannn out there somewhere? If so, we must have him.
You could go SNL and ...
Zimminator
the Zimm man
Zimmalamadingdong
Zimmerishous
This is stupid...I'll stop
We could pay homage to his Wisconsin roots and call him the "Hard Cheese" or His spreading out his "Wisconsin cheese"
Darn those were just as stupid...
Go figure my verification word is pupooing, I wouldn't make that up if I could...
He already has nickname: the "Zim Reaper." That's what I read in the Post.
I've always called Belliard "Ronnie-B" while my girlfriend has been more than willing to dub Dukes as "Dear Elijah" as in he has a hole in a bucket somewhere. However, I think my new favorite is for Anderson Hernandez... AdHd.
Considering the spring he is having, I say we just call him
"Z"
Usually the smaller the nickname the greater the player. "Z" is simple and shows great respect, plus it implies the end of the game even before it starts.
Z
By the way, in 6 months I am hoping to call Steven Strasburg... "The SS." His pitching is really fascist.
