There will be many many days for second-guessing, nit-picking, cynical asides and GM-bashing. Today, we should all just say congratulations to Mike Rizzo for reaching the pinnacle of his profession. You've earned your shot, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Here's hoping there's never an audience for FMR.com.

But you have reserved the url, haven't you?
"Maybe Edes's article is hogwash. But probably it isn't. Most likely at least two people with the Nationals talked to him. Or DiPoto talked, which would be idiotic."
For someone who revels in pointing out others' wrongs, you are pretty gutless about admitting them yourself. Keep hiding behind language - you guessed wrong. Where's the mea-culpa? You demand it from everyone else. Perhaps to run a percantage of accuracy on rumors you've reported?
Self-serving is one thing. Not showing up when you put it out there is another. You demand accountability from others. Start demanding it from yourself.
@ Anon: Your rant makes no sense.
Congrats to Mike Rizzo. The only criticism I have of him right now is that he looks a bit too much like Billy Joel.
@anon--I'm not sure I follow your point. I still think it's most likely that someone told Edes that Rizzo was about to be fired. I don't think Edes just made it up. Clearly, his source was wrong. His source may have been knowingly planting false info. Or his source may have been simply mistaken him or herself. Either way, I'm not sure what I did wrong commenting on the prospect of a Rizzo firing.
Steven,
You must have cringed when Rizzo said almost word for word what I believe.....Sabre has it's place, it is a piece of the picture but in the end you have to trust you eyes and watch the games.....on that note, Dukes is done as a Nat in my view.
I love the way Rizzo approaches baseball and demands his players do the same. Dukes has all the talent but he has jogged after one too many balls over his head this week. Rizzo will dump him as soon as he can.
There was nothing in what Rizzo said that I disagree with. You're fighting with a strawman, which is why I've mostly come to ignore you.
Oh come on.....Steven be honest.
