Wanna know why Adam Dunn doesn't command a king's ransom on the trade market (or free agency)? Here's a play any MLB first baseman should make, and it cost the Nationals the game.
And yes I realize that it's always counted as a throwing error if the infielder bounces the throw, but that doesn't make it right.

agreed....E3 for a MLB 1B....he needs to make that play.
Why don't you show one of the few plays that Dunn made by jumping up, saving Desmond and Zim an error?
Thanks for making me relive that.
I agree he should have made that play. I also think he has saved many more Zimmerman errors than he has given up. No one says he's a gold glover, just that he's better than he's getting credit for.
Zimmerman's side arm throw always makes me nervous, especially when the more natural throw from where he fielded the ball is over the top. Apparently, the coaches suggested he throw like that last year after his early problems.
Section 222, are you saying Adam Dunn's defense makes Ryan Zimmerman better? Or would an average 1B do better than saving "many more" errors than giving up?
I disagree. Dunn has not saved the majority of balls that would have otherwise been errors. It's not a coincidence that the major league leader in errors is also the same guy who throws the most balls to Dunn.
That being said, Dunn does get a bad rap. People still think he's the historically bad, -35 UZR player of the past. He's not that bad anymore. But he's not a good defender by any stretch of the imagination.
I obviously haven't looked at every play, but I watch alot of games, and yes, I think Dunn has saved more Zim bad throws that would have been errors than he has missed. He's constantly coming off the bag to catch a bad throw and tagging the runner, for example. And I'll bet he's caught more bad throws than missed errant throws like last night. I just don't think he's a terrible first baseman, though I agree he should have made the play last night. And I also think that Zim still has real throwing problems, and Dunn is probably masking that to some extent.
Sorry, but I think that's really wrong. Just watch his mechanics. He comes off the bag constantly. Terrible footwork. He's not good at it.
Yes...If he was no so big he would get crushed by runners much more often...he backed up and stepped right over the the back of the bag and lost his balance on the back of his heels...not the way the teach that.....he is not as bad as he was but I am in the trade Dunn camp along with Willingham, Capps, Morgan and the useless vet crowd of Harris, Guz and Kennedy.
