It's Time to Sign the Fire Jim Bowden petition

For me, I was ready to fire Bowden after he signed Vinny Castilla in 2004, basically his first move as GM. Others have gotten on board gradually over the last 4 years as the team has only gotten worse on the field.

But I sense that this week, after ChiefGate, the dam has broken. Even the most relentlessly optimistic Nationals fans at sites like WeveGotHeart.com and Nats320.com seem ready to throw Bowden overboard.

Click here to sign the Fire Jim Bowden petition. With enough signers, this petition can really help send the message!

We currently have just over 50 signatures, but I believe that if this petition goes viral it could easily far exceed the goal of 1,000. If we can get up into that territory, we will have the makings of a media story. Imagine if there were more people on the Fire Jim Bowden petition than the number of people watching the Nationals on TV? It's not hard to imagine Chico Harlan, Thom Loverro, or even Boz picking up a story like that.

A petition alone won't have a big impact, but combined with all the media pressure, the performance on the field, etc. this can have an impact, if enough people sign.

Click here to sign the Fire Jim Bowden petition, and after you've signed, ask 2-3 friends to sign as well!

*Two* or *three* friends? I just sent it to twenty!

And I think we're about to find out just how hot the blogosphere can make things for a guy that up till recently was getting pretty much a free pass. Damn shame, it is.

I don't know that we're as relentlessly optimistic as many think (or as we were last year).

But with that said, it's time.

I noticed, but I meant it as a compliment. Optimism is what allows the good people of the world to make a difference!

No offense taken :) Time to make FJB t-shirts!

So, if he gets fired -- do you shut this place down? Change the name? Start a new site?

Nationals Enquirer--We'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

BTW--Steven = Nationals fan @ FJB.

I set up the blog as "Nationals Fan" not really realizing that all my comments would come up with that generic name and it took me this long to figure out how to change it.

The site has morphed into good coverage, so I hope that you have time to keep it going.

I'm with you. But not because of letting Cordero go. I mean, it may be classless - but Cordero isn't worth $6 mln....not even close.

There are so many good reasons. Really at this point I just can't understand how anyone thinks it's really in the best interests of the team for him to stay. I mean, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but God if he's really the best out there then MIT needs to start a grad school program in MLB GM-ing or something to get more smart guys in the pipeline.

Just left my vote. This FBI investigation is a huge deal that I think is not getting enough attention. Think about this, as embarrassing as this is, you would think this would be enough for the Lerners to fire him, on top of everything else(domestic abuse incident, chad blunder, etc). I'm starting to wonder if the Lerners were in on the dominican players Salary skimming. We all know how cheap they are. Would this suprise anyone? Wouldn't it make sense as to how much support Bowden has gotten? Just a thought.
