Ouch! Boz Gets 40 Licks in the Blogosphere

Some of the more well-trafficked and respected sports bloggers in the country are taking the opportunity of this really terrible Baseball Insider post by Thomas Boswell, which argues for Frankie Rodriguez and Ryan Howard as MVPs in the AL and NL, to write his obituary as a respectable baseball journalist.

Joe Posnanski
in particular is damning--not just what he says, but who he is. He's an award-winning KC Star sportswriter and blogger with a huge national following, not some little amateur blogger. He was named Best Sportswriter in America by AP in 2003 and again in 2005.

Jonah Keri, editor of stathead bible Baseball Between the Numbers, also called him out in a post called "Shedding a Tear for Tom Boswell."

Of course, the amateurs are
also letting it rip. Needham started this chat at the Baseball Think Factory, and this from Umpbump. I'm sure there are more out there, which folks can link in the comments if you're interested.

Maybe this is a meaningless little dust-up, but somehow it feels like a tipping point in Boz's finally totally squandered professional cred.
